This is Derbyshire one of Northcliffe Newspapers Group Ltd's 12 digital communities has launched a Web site dedicated to its county cricket club.

Designed and hosted by the Derby Evening Telegraph's new media team, the backbone of the new site provides the most up-to-date and exhaustive news coverage available - on and off the field. Fans worldwide can now log on to www.DCCC.co.uk to check for up-to-date scores and full daily reports.

Almost 12,000 page impressions were recorded last week (April 19-25) as Derby began their first match in the PPP Healthcare County Championship against Glamorgan. A Cricket World Cup section will also build into a complete record of the tournament.

Additional site features include background information about each County staff player and comprehensive statistics of all competitions. Fans wishing to voice their opinions can also have their say via a daily bulletin board while links take the user to a host of other cricket-related sites.

Steve Tickle (43), of Woodville, Swadlincote, and a fan of Derbyshire cricket for 20 years, said:

"I'm very impressed by the layout and appearance of www.DCCC.co.uk... As the site gradually fills with stats and news over the coming season I'm sure it will be a tremendous asset to fans of Derbyshire cricket. Let's hope the cricket club have as successful a season as Derby County (football)!"

The site was built following the huge success of "This Is Derbyshire's" first sports related site www.TheRams.co.uk, which focuses exclusively on Derby County Football Club. This site was awarded a score of 5/5 and described as a "must see" in the April 1999 edition of the football magazine FourTwoFour.

All 12 Northcliffe-owned "This Is..." Web sites, including This Is Scunthorpe, which launched yesterday, deliver a wealth of local and national sports news and information. They are:

  • This is Cornwall
  • This is Derbyshire
  • This is Essex
  • This is Exeter
  • This is Gloucestershire
  • This is Hull and East Yorkshire
  • This is Kent and East Sussex
  • This is Leicestershire
  • This is Lincolnshire
  • This is Plymouth
  • This is Scunthorpe
  • This is Staffordshire

Northcliffe Newspapers Group Limited and Newsquest Essex jointly own "This is Essex".
