DMGT has today announced the following appointments within its Internet operations:
Owen Davies, currently Finance Director and New Media Director of Northcliffe Newspapers is appointed Managing Director of DMG New Media. This company will be responsible for development of Group Internet strategy, particularly relating to consumer facing activities, consideration and establishment of alliances with third parties, overseeing of technology usage across the Group, and management of the Group's Internet investment fund. He will retain his responsibility for Northcliffe's electronic publishing activities. Owen is an MBA who joined the Group in 1995, having previously worked in development roles for Bass and Unilever.
Martin Dunn is to head a new company, Front Of Mind, which has a brief to identify and develop new Internet-related opportunities for the Group. The company will assemble a small, highly-skilled specialist team to create business-to-business and business-to-consumer concepts for all electronic delivery devices. Front Of Mind will take ideas from inception to launch. Initially, this company will be owned and funded by DMGT.
Kevin Beatty, Managing Director of both the Evening Standard and Metro and, up until 1998, Managing Director of The Mail on Sunday, is appointed Chief Operating Officer of Associated New Media ('ANM'), succeeding Martin Dunn in that role. Peter Williams will remain as Chairman of ANM.
Kevin's brief is to build on the achievements of ANM, one of the UK's leading content Internet companies. He will develop all ANM's existing properties in a full symbiotic relationship with Associated Newspapers' titles as well as identifying and building new businesses, feeding off the strengths of the Group's titles where appropriate.
Lord Rothermere, Chairman of DMGT, said: "This again demonstrates DMGT's commitment to digital media, and its desire to create new opportunities for Internet expertise to flourish within the Group. I wish all three success in their new roles within this exciting field of activity".
