dmg world media, the exhibitions and related activities division of Daily Mail and General Trust, has acquired a 25% stake in U.S. trade show organiser Western Exhibitors LLC for US$10 million. dmg world media will acquire the remaining 75% in five years time.
The deal follows dmg world media’s acquisition of a 25% stake in New York-based gift show organiser George Little Management, LLC (GLM) in November 2000. It completes a partnership that unites 26 major gift industry shows in 12 of the 14 key locations across North America with Whereoware.com, a business to business e-commerce site, of which dmg world media owns 44.75%, launched last summer to serve the gift industry.
Western Exhibitors LLC, the largest producer of gift shows on the West Coast, runs twice yearly shows in San Francisco, Seattle and Portland which attract a combined total of over 6,000 exhibitors and 92,000 visitors. dmg world media’s existing partnership with GLM is already behind gift shows in New York, Boston, Washington, Dallas and Los Angeles, and in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton in Canada.
