DMG Radio Australia ("DMG") announced yesterday that it had acquired Brisbane AM radio station 4BH from the Australian Radio Network ("ARN") for an undisclosed sum which did not exceed A$5 million. DMG is 75% owned by DMGT and 25% by GWR Group plc. 4BH will become part of Australia's largest radio network, bringing to 62 the number of stations now owned by DMG.
4BH is DMG's second radio station broadcasting in metropolitan Brisbane. The company also jointly owns with ARN Brisbane's newest FM station 97.3FM, which was launched in October last year.
Beginning as a regional operator in Australia in 1996, DMG now has a growing presence in the major capital city markets. In April last year DMG launched Sydney's newest FM station, Nova 96.9 FM, which has quickly become one of Sydney's most popular stations. Most recently in December 2001, the company's newest radio station, Nova 100FM in Melbourne also went to air for the first time.
