Daily Mail and General Trust ('DMGT') is today holding an analyst and institutional presentation on its information division, DMG Information ('DMGI'). Copies of the slides and the full text of the presentation will be available on the Company website (dmgt.co.uk) here from 5 p.m. today.

Martin Morgan, Managing Director of DMGI will make the following comments on the division and its prospects.

"DMGI has been built up primarily over the last 5 years at a cost of £265 million, which will rise to approximately £300 million after taking into account expected future earn-out payments.

"DMGI comprises two principal business areas. The focus of the careers' division is on providing information and tuition to students throughout the world through the extensive range of products and services provided by Hobsons and Study Group. The Business to Business division is focused on serving niche information segments in the insurance and real estate markets, with risk management being a regular theme underlying the commercial purpose of most of the businesses within our portfolio.

"We employ 3,500 people across the world, comprising 1,100 in the U.S.A., 800 in India, 800 in the U.K., 725 in Australia and 75 in Continental Europe."

In the year ended 30th September 2001, DMGI reported the following results:

CareersBusiness to BusinessTotal
Turnover£113m£89m£202m
Operating Profit£7m£8m£15m

Paul Sykes, Finance Director of DMGI will make the following comment on DMGI's current trading.

"Current trading for DMGI continues to be in line with the comments made in DMGT's December trading statement. Our businesses are continuing to perform well, and proving robust, with the exception of a downturn in the performance of Study Group's U.S. business due to the events of September 11th substantially reducing student volumes. Study Group is performing well in both the U.K. and Australia."
