(London - 8 December 2003) The Daily Mail has achieved its highest November sales since monthly records began over 40 years ago - selling 2,479,458 copies a day.

It sold 59,000 (2.4 per cent), more copies a day than it did in November last year.

Remarkably, the Mail achieved this success in a national newspaper market which overall, year on year, has fallen by 535,000 copies (4 per cent).

The Daily Express, in the past year, has lost 38,000 sales, with its circulation 3.8 per cent down. Since Richard Desmond bought the Express in November 2000, the sales have fallen by 89,000 copies (8.6 per cent).

Year on year, The Times is down 66,000 (9.6 per cent). The Daily Telegrah down 48,000 (5 per cent), The Guardian down 18,000 (4.6 per cent).

And the Daily Mirror has had a catastrophic year - losing 242,000 sales, 11.3 per cent of its circulation.
