(London - 19 March 2004) New research into the classified publications sector has confirmed a clear market leader: Loot.
As part of the second stage of an ongoing year long project, leading independent research company VAR International conducted an in depth analysis of the entire sector to ascertain precise market share in twelve selected categories. Loot, as well as competitors including Exchange & Mart, Quids In, Daltons Weekly and Bargain Pages, were assessed for their total advertising content in both the private and trade sectors. The results were then split by category: lifestyle, jobs, business & office, motors, electrical, home & garden, property, travel, music, announcements and mixed & unclassified.
Despite extensive competition including several specialist magazines in a number of sectors such as motor and property, the results were clear: In over 50% of the categories analysed, Loot was the market leader. Loot was particularly strong in categories such as private travel advertising where the publication achieved a 99% market share in the North West region, and music advertising with trade market share hitting 81% in the South East and 99% in the North West. In five of the six categories that Loot was not the market leader, the publication came a very close second.
Claire Payne, Managing Director of Loot, said: “The VAR International research is further proof of Loot’s status as one of the country’s leading marketplaces for both trade and private advertising. By combining some of the largest advertising volumes with the broadest possible range of products, both the trade and consumers can be confident that Loot is the number one choice.”
