Kevin Beatty, aged 46, has been appointed the Managing Director of Associated Newspapers. He is at present Managing Director of Northcliffe Newspapers Group. Kevin Beatty was appointed Managing Director of The Mail on Sunday in 1996 and of the Evening Standard in 1999. He was a key member of the launch team of Metro in 1999, as well as Chief Operating Officer of Associated New Ventures before becoming Managing Director of Northcliffe Newspapers in 2001.
He will be succeeded at Northcliffe Newspapers by Michael Pelosi, aged 51, the present Deputy Managing Director. Michael Pelosi has been with the Northcliffe Newspapers Group since 1988 when he was appointed Finance Director and promoted to Deputy Managing Director in 1995. His additional responsibilities have included the development of Northcliffe’s overseas interests and restructuring the Group’s regional printing centres into the Northcliffe Press.
Kevin Beatty replaces Murdoch MacLennan who has been Managing Director of Associated Newspapers for the past 10 years.
Murdoch MacLennan’s contribution to the outstanding and continued success of the Company over that time is acknowledged by the board of DMGT. Murdoch MacLennan leaves to take up the appointment of Chief Executive at the Telegraph Group.
