Trainee makes Nova launch unique

When Brisbane's brand new radio station Nova 106.9 was officially launched at midday today, it certainly sounded 'different', but not in the way we expected!

In a possible case of industrial sabotage, work experience boy Bevan pressed the 'red' button instead of the 'green', taking the new station off-air before it had even begun.

Investigations into the incident are now underway with many questioning why Bevan, who has been helping out during past 6 months of test transmissions, somehow end up with the important honour of flicking the ‘ON’ switch.

Australian rockers Evermore who recently took home the Supernova Breakthrough Act Award at the first ever MTV Australia Awards were on-hand to salvage the in-studio situation, performing 'For One Day' as the first official song on Nova 106.9.

After sorting out the earlier chaos, Breakfast team Meshel, Ash and Kip with Luttsy were the first announcers on-air, followed by Merrick & Rosso, Jamie Row, Emily Jade O'Keeffe and Whippy. Justine McKell will be joined by Jabba from Channel [v] to round out the night.

Bevan has promised us there will not be more than two mistakes in a row.
